How Your Daytime Breathing Can Affect Your Sleep

Time & Location

20 Jan 2024, 14:00 – 15:30 CET

Berlin, Yoga Hub Berlin Thaerstraße 40, 10249 Berlin, Germany

About the event

Most of us know that a calm approach to sleep is likely to deliver better results than going to bed with a busy mind. Many know too that calm, slow breathing at bedtime can be useful for getting to sleep. Less well-known, however, is the role of day-to-day, moment-by-moment breathing in both sleep quality and duration.

What is included in the workshop?

This workshop will highlight the research-backed effects of breathing on sleep and help you to identify whether or not there’s room for improvement in your everyday breathing and subsequently in your sleep. We will look at various aspects of sleep-related issues from sleep duration and quality through to snoring and sleep apnea.

You will take more than information away with you from this 90 minute workshop. We will also share exercises with you which, if practised regularly, can create adaptations such as to calm the autonomic nervous system and bring relief from the background hum of anxiety that many of us experience. These are not simply interventions to be used when needed, but are designed to create lasting changes in your physiology. You will also learn how to breathe better at night and how to avoid the habits that can compromise breathing.

The instructors, Annette & Graham Henry,  both have a potent story of improved sleep as a result of retraining their breathing. We cannot guarantee that changing your breathing will change how you sleep, but if your breathing is currently sub-optimal, we can be certain that retraining it will lead to improvements in some aspect(s) of your health and your ability to engage more with life. And these improvements may well include your sleep.

Based on what you learn in this workshop, if you would like additional guidance and monitoring over a longer period to rectify a sleep disordered breathing problem, you will be eligible for a 10% discount on our full breathing re-training program following attendance at this event.

Who is the workshop suitable for?

The workshop is suitable for adults of any age and for children above the age of 14 , regardless of fitness level. It will be delivered in English.
