About the event

Do you ever catch yourself responding to something with more reactivity than seems fitting for the circumstances, or more than someone else experiencing the same event? Are you more reactive than you used to be? Does it feel as though your mind has a tendency to see negativity and perceive danger even though it may be largely unwarranted?

It probably comes as little surprise that a 'Yes' in response to any of the above may be an indication of chronic anxiety. Perhaps more surprising is that it may be worsened, or even caused by sub-optimal breathing. 75% of the adult population with anxiety also have disordered breathing so the likelihood of a link is strong. And where this is the case, correcting respiratory physiology is a must.

Firstly, if you have disordered breathing you're certainly not alone, it's incredibly common in today's world. And secondly, that is precisely why you're not to blame. So many aspects of modern life can trigger unhelpful breathing patterns and they can become habitual:

  • A stressful event
  • An illness
  • A role model
  • Modern diets

The list is longer, but this may give you an idea of what's behind your own breathing challenges.

In this workshop you will find out more about how and why breathing can feed into over-thinking and anxiety. You will measure your own breathing efficiency using a simple test. And most importantly, you will learn some breathing exercises which will help you to retrain your breathing to foster more resilience and a calmer life.

The information and breathing re-education advice included in this 90 minute workshop should enable you to retrain your own breathing without any further assistance. Of course, there are various factors that impact on whether or not this is easy to achieve: we each have a different starting point, different demands on our time, different levels of motivation (which can be affected by our current levels of stress) and sometimes the simple need not to go it alone, or to have more individual attention. If it transpires that you would benefit from a one-to-one program, then attendance at this workshop will constitute your first session and a corresponding discount of 25% will be applied.
